The Gumbo Bros
Highly-anticipated New Orleans-style eatery, The Gumbo Bros, will officially open its doors in Nashville on Wednesday, March 3.
Now in its second iteration, The Gumbo Bros was founded by former Louisiana State University roommates Chef Adam Lathan and Clay Boulware and will serve up a selection of authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine right in the bustling Gulch neighborhood.
Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Chef Lathan spent a great deal of his childhood traveling along the Gulf Coast to New Orleans, where he would visit with family, indulge in delicious food, and bask in the city's vibrant culture. Committed to serving only the freshest and highest quality products, The Gumbo Bros will regularly fly seafood into both its Nashville and Brooklyn locations straight from the Gulf.
“We couldn’t be more excited to give Nashville a legit taste of Louisiana,” says Lathan. “We scouted cities all across the South for expansion and at the end of the day, Nashville felt like the best choice for the business and for my family."

As with its Brooklyn location, the new Nashville outpost will embody the full spirit of Louisiana. Not only will the restaurant serve as a gathering spot for LSU and Saints fans on game days, but The Gumbo Bros will also offer up a selection of daiquiris on tap, oyster happy hours, in additon to crawfish boils and jazz brunches in the spring.

Chef Lathan's journey to create the perfect pot of gumbo began after learning the "proper" technique from his great-grandmother, Nanny. That same technique of cooking homemade gumbo for 14-hours is still used in The Gumbo Bros kitchen to this very day and serves as the basis for all three gumbos on the menu.

Also on the menu, guests will find a variety of po'boys ranging from the classics like Fried Shrimp and Oyster to "Fancy Pants" versions like the Benny's Special and Surf 'n' Turf. Additional standout menu items include Smoked Boudin Balls made with pork from local hotspot Peg Leg Porker, Fried Louisiana Alligator Nuggets, Cajun Waffle Fries, Bananas (Foster) Pudding, and Louisiana-made Zapp's Chips.
The Gumbo Bros' beverage program pays homage to its New Orleans roots featuring Hurricanes made with homemade mix, Tabasco Margaritas on tap, a wide-variety of daiquiris, and a rotating selection of local Nashville and New Orleans beers.
While there's no question that The Gumbo Bros will bring a piece of Lousiana to Nashville, the eatery also hopes to be integrated into its new community and will partner with local artisans such as Pfeffer Torode Architecture and I Saw the Sign.
Starting Wednesday, March 3, The Gumbo Bros will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. For more information and the full menu, visit thegumbobros.com/.
