MARK D. EWALD, MD
A native of Mariemont, Ohio, just outside of Cincinnati, DR. EWALD attended Vanderbilt University where he received his undergraduate degree cum laude in mathematics. He attended medical school at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, followed by an internal medicine internship at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
Dr. Ewald received his Ophthalmology residency training at New York University and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, where he served as Executive Chief Resident. Dr. Ewald was chosen for a coveted position as a Cornea and External Disease fellow at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Ewald is a board-certified Ophthalmologist (American Board of Ophthalmology). He is a member in good standing of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) and the Cornea Society. He is past president of the Nashville Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the Tennessee Academy of Ophthalmology, for which is serves as Chairman of the Young Ophthalmologists’ section.
Dr. Ewald joined Cornea and Cataract Consultants in 2016. Prior to that he served as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Vanderbilt University and serviced as Director of Medical Student Education for the department of ophthalmology. Dr. Lauren E. Frye has undergone medical and surgical training for over a decade focusing on health, nutrition, and vascular pathology. DAVID HAASE, M.D.
Dr. David Haase is a very curious physician. He received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and went on to residency and practice at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is board-certified in Family Medicine and Integrative Holistic Medicine and is Lead Faculty for and certified by the Institute for Functional Medicine.

H. MARK LICKEY, M.D.
Dr. Mark Lickey completed his medical degree at Loma Linda University, where the motto “To Make Man Whole” made a lasting impression. Leaving California after medical school, he did his specialty training in internal medicine at Yale University and stayed an extra year as chief resident.

DR. JANE I. RUMAN
Jane I. Ruman, M.D. brings over 20 years of experience in reproductive medicine to Tennessee Fertility Institute. Dr. Ruman earned her medical degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she participated in nationally recognized research in factors that control embryo implantation. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where she continued to publish award-winning articles on infertility treatment.
After the completion of her residency training, Dr. Ruman was selected for a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University, where she authored and co- authored several publications concerning egg donation and fertility treatment. Dr. Ruman was fascinated by the intricate science involved in human reproduction, but it’s the patients themselves that sustain her love for her work today.
