Top Doctors at The Vanderbilt Breast Center work collaboratively as a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive breast care at a one-stop destination recognized by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.
The team consists of breast care specialists from radiology, surgical, medical, and radiation oncology, plastic surgery, pathology and genetics. These specialists provide personalized care with advanced diagnostic technologies including three-dimensional mammography and MRI, innovative surgical techniques, and cutting-edge, tumor profiling-guided systemic treatments for breast cancer. Plastic surgeons are adept at the latest techniques, including an advanced microsurgical breast reconstruction called DIEP, which uses patients’ abdominal tissue to form a new breast. In addition, there are specialized protocols for people at high risk for developing breast cancer, including genetic testing for mutations linked to breast cancer.
The Vanderbilt Breast Program is at the forefront of discovery, offering individualized tumor profiling, liquid biopsies and new targeted therapies, which neutralize specific molecules that allow cancer cells to spread. Patients also have access to the latest clinical trials, including new immunotherapy regimens designed to unleash patients’ immune systems against tumors. The Vanderbilt Breast Program is one of only five National Cancer Institute-designated Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) for breast cancer.
Above all else, physicians and staff at Vanderbilt Breast Center offer high quality, patient-centered care, delivered with compassion and respect.
