A native of Kentucky, Dr. John Q. Binhlam MD, FAAD, received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in Computer Science and Mathematics.
He then felt the call to pursue medicine, which led him to the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Binhlam later completed his Internal Medicine residency at Indiana University before returning to VU to pursue his subspecialty residency in Medical and Surgical Dermatology.
Dr. Binhlam is passionate about the field of medical dermatology and aesthetic skin care. As such, he is an active mentor and educator of medical students, residents, and other physicians. He has served in various societal leadership positions; most notably, as past-President of the Nashville Dermatology Society, the Tennessee Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the national American Society of Mohs Surgery.
As a strong advocate for patient health and rights, he regularly participates in lobbying efforts on behalf of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the One Voice Against Cancer Coalition. In his spare time, Dr. Binhlam is a golf enthusiast and is supremely dedicated to his four-legged child Abby, a spunky Westie.
