On Sunday, August 9, more than 90 volunteers honored the Williamson County Fair's annual Senior Day by visiting ten Williamson County senior facilities to spread cheer with sidewalk chalk messages and drawings.
The Williamson County Fair traditionally celebrates Senior Day the first Sunday of the Fair's nine days, where seniors age 55 and older are invited to come to the Fair free of charge, enjoy the exhibits and attractions and play bingo. In lieu of an in-person event, the Williamson County Fair board felt it was important to continue Senior Day and share some encouragement with Williamson County's senior residents who have not been able to visit with friends and family during the pandemic.
Volunteers including the Williamson County Fair Board and Junior Fair Board members, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, the Ravenwood High School Girls' Soccer Team and other members of the community visited Canterfield of Franklin, Claiborne & Hughes, Fountains of Franklin, Maristone of Franklin, Morning Pointe of Brentwood, Morning Pointe of Franklin, NHC Place Cool Springs, NHC Place Franklin, Somerby Senior Living Franklin, and The Hearth at Franklin and left messages of encouragement, beautiful drawings, and even tic tac toe games on the sidewalks for the centers' senior residents and guests to enjoy.
