The Tennessee State Fair is back!
From August 18 through 27 listen to live music; take part in baking, tablescaping, arm wrestling, and other fun competitions; see livestock shows and tractor pulls; have fun on the midway rides; and more! We've rounded up five things you should know about the Tennessee State Fair before you go.
1. Take Part in a Tablescaping Competition
Think you've got what it takes? Try your hand in any number of contests like the tablescape competition: Design a formal tablescape with your choice of dishware, centerpieces, and other objects, and be sure to include a framed menu and four place settings. The registration fee is $25, and first-, second-, and third-place winners will receive $200, $150, and $100, respectively.
It's not a state fair without some live music! Listen to tunes from all kinds of genres all week long. The fair has six stages, each with their own schedule and lineup. Bluegrass? Check. Traditional country? Check.
3. Grab a Seat on the Midway Rides
Looking for thrills? Look no further than the fair! Climb aboard the Zipper if you dare, scoot your way down the Super Fun Slide, or go the traditional route with a go around the Ferris wheel. Purchase a $25 ride armband for unlimited amounts of fun or individual tickets for $1.50 each.
From cattle shows and dairy judging to goat shows and barrel racing, the State Fair is full of furry friends and fun competitions alike! Register for a show or watch as a spectator.
5. Get Moving with Motorized Events
Tractor pulls, a lawn mower demolition derby, and a four-wheeler rodeo, oh my! There’s a motorized event to get everyone’s engine running. There’s even a battery powered ride-on toy race for kids.
