Flying in or out of Nashville International Airport sometime soon? You might notice a few major changes including the opening of the new grand lobby. Here's 7 fun things to know about the grand lobby:
- The grand lobby ties all concourses together with one single-entry point. The TSA checkpoint will be expanded to 24 security lanes, allowing for faster access to the gates
- This striking suspended sculpture located in the lobby is titled “The Unscalable Rampart of Time” and consists of 8,000 washi paper kites suspended from 4,800 fiberglass rods
- It will include a new central marketplace with dining, retail, and service amenities
- The lobby features a pedestrian bridge connecting to the parking garages
- Passengers are greeted by 2 monumental displays playing video capsules that pay homage to Music City’s legacy. Each large-scale screen is 70-by-10 feet
- Each side wall of the lobby showcases a 105-foot hanging garden by Garden on the Wall that portrays the Korean Veterans Memorial Bridge and the Natchez Trace Parkway Bridge
- BNA’s grand lobby features a sweeping roof canopy with an oculus skylight reminiscent of an acoustic guitar from an aerial view
