Walls for Women
Just ahead of the centennial anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, California-based winery Cycles Gladiator is honoring 100 years of women's suffrage by co-funding the creation of 10 original murals throughout different communities in Tennessee.
The murals project is inspired by the fight for women's suffrage and will be on display in Nashville now through August 18. Locals and visitors to the state can also find the murals in the following Tennessee communities:
- Knoxville: Aug. 1-10
- Maryville: Aug. 4-18
- Nolensville: Aug. 6-10

The muralists, a collection of female artists selected by DMA-events, Inc., a Tennessee-based nonprofit that is dedicated to curating artistic expression in public places, will include notable talents such as Sarah Painter, Tara Aversa, Kim Radford, Nicole Salgar, Cymone Wilder, and Paris Woodhull. The works will be painted on walls in high-visibility locations with the subject matter reflecting the individual artists' professional talents.
“The murals themselves will not necessarily be about the suffrage movement directly,” says Walls for Women Organizer Kristin Luna. “They will be whimsical, thoughtful and drive forward the state’s century-old commitment to female equality.”
