Mayor John Cooper and city planners have shared the vision for redevelopment plans on Nashville's East Bank along the Cumberland River.
The development would combine existing multi-billion-dollar projects to revitalize the 300-plus acres of land in the East Bank. Here's some key takeaways from the proposed vision plan:
Key points:
- City planners envision a pier and boat dock. In addition, approximately 16 miles of bike lanes, 2.8 miles of greenways, a new mass transit hub, and a campus for the arts and education would be included.
- Four new neighborhoods. The plan calls for a mix of housing, commercial development, public spaces, and multimodal transportation networks. Affordable housing will also be a part of the plan.
- The Titans are evaluating a new domed stadium. The plan considers different outcomes for some features based upon two different potential locations for the new stadium.
- The cost for redevelopment hasn't been released, but Mayor Cooper says he's exploring a combination of developer, state, and federal contributions.
