Thank you for your interest in a Nashville Lifestyles internship! We are always on the lookout for bright and creative students. Our internships are designed to offer insight into the media industry—editorial, digital, graphic design, photography, marketing, and events. Interns obtain hands-on experience in potential career fields, interacting with other business professionals in real-life situations.

Availability

• Spring internships — (Jan - April) — apply by November 30
• Summer internships — (May - Aug) — apply by March 29
• Fall internships — (Sept - Dec) — apply by July 26

Criteria

• Students must be able to receive academic credit from their school for the internship
• We prefer students who have reached junior year or higher in their education, but this is not a necessity
• Potential interns must understand that all Nashville Lifestyles internships are unpaid


Editorial

OVERVIEW
As an editorial intern, you will work closely with the managing editor, digital editor, and production department to create front-of-book content.

Editorial interns are responsible for researching, interviewing, reporting, writing, and proofreading. Occasionally, interns are asked to attend photo shoots, attend off-site events, or help out other departments, like marketing and sales.

CRITERIA
Interns must have a basic understanding of the AP style, as well as some experience or working knowledge of how to interview, report, and research journalistic stories. Published clips are preferred but not required. An interest in the city of Nashville and an understanding of city and regional magazines are also preferred. Two days per week minimum; more available if desired.

Graphic design

OVERVIEW
As a graphic design intern, you will obtain print and web design experience by working closely with both NL's internal production department as well as advertising clients.

Graphic design interns will be involved in the creation of multiple publications: Nashville Lifestyles, NL At Home, NL Weddings, NL SWIG, and Murfreesboro Magazine.

CRITERIA
Interns must have working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign; Illustrator is a plus. Interns must be on a visual communications track in school (graphic design, studio art, photo, video, etc., and should have an eye for good photography, typography, and basic elements of design. A background in illustrating, ad design, magazine design and/or web design a plus. Students should be friendly, organized, and detail-oriented. Published design work and/or a link to a portfolio site is preferred when applying. Two days per week minimum; more available if desired.

Marketing

OVERVIEW
As a marketing and events intern, you will gain experience facilitating and executing events with the marketing and events department. Students will learn marketing operations, including print media, web-based media, distribution, and general sales support. Interns will be included during marketing and sales meetings, as well as sponsor meetings and calls for upcoming signature events. In addition to doing event marketing campaigns for NL's in-house events, marketing interns will have access to community-related events sponsored by Nashville Lifestyles through pre-event exposure and onsite branding.

CRITERIA
Interns must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Interns must be on a marketing, business, and/or communications track in school. Students should be friendly, organized, detail-oriented, and highly professional. Two days per week minimum; more available if desired. Must have reliable transportation.
