Succulent Vegan Tacos celebrates Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) to benefit Pet Community Center!
Día De Los Muertos – Day of the Dead is a two-day holiday (November 1 – November 2) that reunites the living and dead. Families create ofrendas (offerings) to honor their departed family members that have passed. These altars are decorated with bright flowers, photos of the departed, and the favorite foods and drinks of the one being honored. The offerings are believed to encourage visits from the land of the dead as the departed souls hear their prayers, smell their foods, and join in the celebration.
Beginning October 16, Succulent Vegan Tacos will encourage Nashvillians to drop off photos of their pets who have passed to participate in their Día De Los Muertos ofrenda (Day of the Dead offering altar at their business located in the Nashville Farmers’ Market (900 Rosa L Parks Blvd.) or DM them at @succulentvegantacos on Instagram for a virtual ofrenda. Succulent has also committed to donating 10% of their sales on October 28 and 29 along with November 1 and 2 to Pet Community Center. PCC’s goal is to provide low-cost, high-quality care so that pets can stay happy. Healthy, and in a home with people who love them.
"Pets are cherished members our families, and they leave lasting imprints on our hearts, which is why it is so touching that our four-legged family members are being included in Succulent Vegan Tacos' Day of the Dead celebration," said Brandon Dyce, PCC president/CEO. "This beloved Mexican holiday is a joyous expression of those who have come before us and shaped our lives, and that definitely includes the pets that we love so deeply and so dearly."
“Día de los Muertos is a very beautiful celebration where we honor the lives of those who have passed. We invite them to join us every year by setting up an altar with their pictures and their favorite foods. For us, our pets are family members and we love to remember the ones that are no longer with us. We invite everyone who wants to remember their pets, honor and celebrate their lives by bringing their photos to add them to our altar”
