A multi-faceted ensemble performance of instrumental music, operatic song, and rhythmic poetry

Local composer and musician Daniel Arite, in partnership with Global Education Center, has invited artists from different cultural backgrounds to weave together a variety of musical ideas and genres. This evening-length concert shines a spotlight on the artistic specialty of each collaborating artist and will culminate in a bold ensemble presentation. It features:

Solo jazz guitar compositions and arrangements by Arite

Latin and African rhythms by percussionist Carlos Duran

Opera singer Sangeetha Ekambaram

Multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer Reza Filsoofi

Composer and clarinetist Gary Powell Nash; and

Poetry, lyrics, and recitations by Thandiwe Shiphrah

A FABRIC OF SOUND was conceived and directed by Daniel Arite as part of an ongoing exploration of musical innovation, multi-track recording, and the dynamics of successful collaborations. The concert finale will be followed by a Q&A about the project and the process.
