to
Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum 222 5th Ave S, Nashville, Tennessee 37203
David C. Morton will discuss his biography of harmonica virtuoso Country Music Hall of Fame member DeFord Bailey, country music’s first Black star, who performed on the Grand Ole Opry from 1926 to 1941. Originally published in 1991, Morton’s book, "DeFord Bailey: A Black Star in Early Country Music," was recently reissued by the museum’s Country Music Foundation Press in a new edition that includes additional photos and a new foreword by musician Dom Flemons. After the program, Morton will be available to sign copies of the book.
