Chef Victor Albisu, a James Beard-nominated chef based in Washington, D.C., has announced plans to expand Taco Bamba, a counter-service taqueria, to Nashville.
Taco Bamba will debut in late 2023 at 4017 Hillsboro Pike, in the Hill Center at Green Hills shopping center. The team behind the brand is a lineup of trained chefs with fine dining backgrounds, honoring traditional flavors and cooking methods while diverging from taco conventions. Tortillas are filled with Korean Fried Chicken, Ethiopian berbere spice, and Lebanese shawarma, among other surprising combinations. Tacos can be ordered dirty-style, the tortilla dressed with seared cheese and chili sauce before filling, or clean-style, setting aside the tortilla in favor of a fresh and crisp cabbage cup. Beyond tacos, Taco Bamba will have empanadas, ceviches, quesadillas, sopes, and nachos, in addition to Mexican street food favorites like elotes. Taco Bamba will also offer a full bar program with innovative agave-based cocktails.
"On my first visit to Nashville, the people, the culture, and the food scene all grabbed my attention and I knew we had to bring Taco Bamba to this city and its surrounding neighborhoods," says Victor Albisu. "The hospitality in this town permeates everyone from the bartenders to the business owners and we can’t wait to bring our unique style of fast-casual to the Nashville dining scene. Hill Center at Green Hills feels like the perfect spot for our first Taco Bamba, and I think there will be opportunities for others."
Taco Bamba’s Nashville location will have tables and bar seating in a 2800-square-foot-space, which will also include a seasonal patio. Table seating will be serviced from a carryout counter, while the bar will offer full service to accompany the creative list of mezcal and tequila cocktails. This location will feature the signature red and black look with original art and design flourishes. (tacobamba.com)
