The James Beard Awards, also known as the Oscars of the food world, recognizes exceptional talent and achievement in the culinary arts, hospitality, and media.
The James Beard Foundation’s Restaurant and Chef Awards — established in 1990 and first awarded in 1991 — are one of five separate recognition programs of the awards. The semifinalists, which are recognized across 23 categories including the new award for outstanding bakery, were just announced for the 2023 awards. Finalists will be announced on March 29 and winners will be celebrated at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Ceremony on June 5 in Chicago.
Five Nashville semifinalists are up for the prestigious honor:

- Nominated for Emerging Chef
2. Clinton Gray, Derrick Moore, and Emanuel Reed, Slim & Husky's Pizza Beeria
- Nominated for Outstanding Restaurateur
3. Noelle Marchetti, Yolan
- Nominated for Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker
4. Josh Habiger, Bastion
- Nominated for Best Chef: Southeast
5. Trevor Moran, Locust
