Nashville chef Jeremy Barlow started Fryce Cream last summer as a weekend popup, offering both dine-in and walkup window service. The simple concept located in 12 South features two items – crispy French fries and homemade soft serve.
“Fryce Cream is a dream for the walkable 12 South neighborhood, and we’re seeing both residents and tourists stop by for the ubiquitous combination of crunchy, salty fries and sweet, creamy soft serve,” says Barlow. “It was a bit of a pandemic project, and it’s had such great response that it’s now time to expand.”
Fryce Cream features a large variety of flavor dusts and dipping sauces for the fries and an array of toppings for the soft serve, which are scratch made with recipes developed by Barlow. Soft serve flavors include chocolate, vanilla, swirl, an oat milk-based dairy free option, and a rotating seasonal flavor.
“I’ve had a lot of fun developing these recipes, and I’ve been particular about flavors and textures,” he says. “I tried something like 80 variations of our chocolate soft serve until I was happy with the result. The dusts, dips, and ice cream toppings change every week, and I’m seeing a lot of repeat visitors to try out different combinations. There’s nothing like the flavor and texture juxtaposition.”
