For influencer and lifestyle blogger Premo, designing a room for a little boy seemed challenging. Luckily, she had help from designers Ginny and Bailey at OAK Nashville.
“My décor style leans more toward the feminine side, so when we found out we were having a boy I was excited to work on a space with a more masculine feel. Remy’s nursery is full of rich color, texture, vintage finds, and personal touches.”
The OAK team helped give the inspired space its signature style.
“Ginny and Bailey from OAK designed the room and blew us away with their attention to detail. After sending them a few initial inspiration photos, they sent back mood boards that completely captured the feel we envisioned,” she says.
“We especially love how they incorporated elements like the tapestry and vintage decor that make his room flow with the rest of our home. The final result is a nursery that is timeless yet completely unique to us and we can’t wait to see how it evolves as he grows.”

While Ervin was pregnant with her second son, she gave designer April Tomlin total creative control of the new nursery and trusted her with a major secret.
“I didn’t know the gender of the baby,” says Ervin. “But April did! I really wanted to be surprised—with the baby and the nursery. It was so much fun. I’d do it again in a heartbeat!”
It was just as exciting for Tomlin—if a bit nerve-wracking.
“This nursery was my first gender surprise nursery, so we went pretty neutral, but the green crib really scared me,” she says. “For months I had the thought, ‘What if she hates green?’ rolling around in the back of my head.”
She needn’t have worried. Ervin and her family were thrilled with the space.
“April is such a visionary. She breathes life into spaces,” she says. “The black and white concept with the pop of color [from the] olive crib feels really fresh. Shepherd really loves crawling on the soft rug. You don’t think about little things like that until your baby starts crawling and then you realize those details of comfort are so important.”

The Hubbards split their time between Nashville and 30A, so a functional and homey room for oldest child Olivia was a must at their beach house. While working with April Tomlin, Hayley Hubbard had a vision for the chic space.
“We really envisioned organic textures and earthy muted colors overall for this home, and adding in some playful elements to our daughter Olivia’s room,” she says. “I love the way April brought this to life, and also designed this room to truly represent Olivia’s aesthetic from her sweet and fun personality to her wardrobe.”
Tomlin says designing for an older child was a lot of fun.
“Since this was more of a toddler space, I really wanted to bring it to life with a fun wallpaper that would carry her through the years. Since this is a kid's space at the beach, I think this wallpaper is the perfect touch.”
Both Hubbard and Tomlin are huge fans of the wallpaper, which give the room a secret garden by the sea feel. Tomlin says it was the perfect place to experiment with all-over pattern.
“If you can’t go bold in a kid's space, where can you?”

For Nicole Correa, the rainbow rug in daughter Reign’s room served as the inspiration for the entire space.
“I wanted her playroom to be bright, boho modern with touches of colors. For me, finding the rug I like is the first step in designing a space,” she says of doing the work on her own.
“If you have a bright and vibrant rug with lots of colors everything else around it should stay neutral, otherwise the odds of a child growing out of a themed room is bound to happen sooner.”
Correa knew she wanted a reading nook for Reign, who loves her ABCs and playing school with her friends. The creative mom also added in an inspired design element—a tiny kitchen.
“Reign loves her kitchen; she plays with it every day. Whenever I have an empty spice container, we add it to her kitchen.”

When it came time to decorate the nursery for her first child, singer Maren Morris worked with designer April Tomlin to find a design that fits the feel of her home.
“Our house is ranch style and has a very rustic, cabin-in-the-woods vibe, so April really understood how to amplify that coziness with our son’s nursery,” she says. “Dark shiplap and natural accents with pops of sky blue and forest green makes it feel like you just want to sip coffee and take a nap in there.”
For Tomlin it was important to make the space as functional as it was beautiful.
“I wanted to stay true to their personal style, and at the same time provide a comfortable space for momma and baby,” she says. “I didn’t know what I would need as a first-time mom, so I very much enjoy helping first time moms plan a perfectly functional nursery that fits their style.”
Both women are also partial to the room’s accent pieces, including the duck mobile over the crib (“it makes me want a boy,” says Tomlin) and the art.
“I love the forest artwork with my son’s name in neon graffitied across it,” says Morris. “It really modernized the cabin vibe we were going for.”
