Dr. Jeffrey D. Horn is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the surgical correction of vision.
Originally from New York, he studied at the State University of NY graduating with a BS in Biology, Summa Cum Laude, and then received his MD, graduating at the top of his class. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and Alpha Omega Alpha, a medical honor society reserved for the highest achievers in medical school. He scored in the 99th percentile of the medical board exam.
Dr. Horn trained in internal medicine at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills and performed his ophthalmology residency at Northwestern University in Chicago. This was followed by a fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery at the University of California, San Diego.
Recruited in 1997 by Vanderbilt Medical Center to join the fulltime faculty, he specialized in cataract, lens replacement, corneal transplantation, and LASIK surgery. He was awarded as the Best Surgical Instructor by the ophthalmology residents he trained. He also was very active in clinical research, performing numerous clinical trials for the FDA on intraocular lens implants, an implantable telescope for patients with macular degeneration, as well as eye drops used post operatively after cataract surgery.
In 2005 he left Vanderbilt to start his own state of the art private practice, Vision For Life, which is dedicated to providing the most advanced technologies in the field of vision correction, including cataract and lens replacement as well as Lasik. He continues to teach other surgeons nationally and internationally, and has been prolific in his clinical research, helping to bring to fruition lens implant technologies such as the toric and multifocal lenses. He recently was one of 12 surgeons nationwide selected to investigate the Panoptix lens replacement, the very first trifocal implanted in the US.
Among Dr. Horn’s numerous awards, he has been selected by his peers as one of the best physicians in America, as well as one of the best eye surgeons in America. Named one of the top 250 premier cataract surgeons in the country, his practice has been written about in a textbook on advanced lens implants.
