As a dually board-certified diagnostic and vascular interventional radiologist, Dr. Dan Wunder provides a full range of minimally invasive procedures at Middle Tennessee’s first and only comprehensive outpatient vascular interventional center, Premier Radiology Briarville. Interestingly, there are less than 100 of this type of center in the nation.
Wunder treats a wide variety of disease processes, ranging from arterial blockages in the lower extremities to fractured vertebral bodies and painful uterine fibroids, and he provides interventional pain management. With advances in minimally invasive techniques and personalized patient care, many interventional procedures are now safely performed in the outpatient setting.
The most common procedure is the treatment of arterial blockages in the legs with atherectomy, or the removal of plaque from leg arteries with a small catheter. This procedure immediately alleviates the cramping leg pain felt when walking. Another routine procedure is the minimally invasive treatment of back fractures, or kyphoplasty. Debilitating fractures are repaired with small needles, balloons, and a specialized bone adhesive, and, as a result, patients experience instantaneous relief from their pain.
At Premier Radiology Briarville, we are performing life-changing and life-enhancing procedures. Today, radiology is much more than simply viewing images—it dramatically improves patients’ lives.
Wunder’s patient-centered philosophy is the foundation of his success. He understands patient care is not one-size-fits-all. Every patient is unique and deserves a treatment tailored to their specific need.
