Dr. Greg Jones; Belmont University
In the heart of Nashville at Belmont University, a story of visionary leadership is unfolding under the guidance of Dr. Greg Jones. Since June 2021, Greg has been leading Belmont with an infectious enthusiasm, shaped by a rich background in academic leadership and a deep commitment to faith and innovation.
An avid sports fan and grandfather of four, Greg’s career trajectory has been marked by a desire to foster abundant life for all people. Before his time at Belmont, Greg was the longtime dean of Duke Divinity School and served in leadership roles at Duke and Baylor Universities. Today, his ambition for Belmont is clear and compelling: to position the university as the world’s leading Christ-centered university, a beacon of hope in an ever- changing world.
This commitment to hope, fueled by the University’s faith-animated mission, is driving incredible initiatives across campus that are focused on helping people and communities flourish. Ongoing key initiatives include deepening the formation of character and skills for the workplace among students, the recent launch of the Creative Arts Collective — a major nationwide initiative in Christianity and the arts made possible by Lilly Endowment, the continued efforts of the Belmont Innovation Labs, which are focused on social impact/entrepreneurship and the opening of the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine. These projects combine academic rigor with creative zeal, embodying Greg’s “traditioned innovation” philosophy, a blend of historical wisdom and forward-thinking creativity.
Convening is central to Belmont’s strategy under Greg’s leadership; gathering diverse voices to tackle global challenges. At Belmont’s annual Hope Summit, thinkers and doers across disciplines converge to transform dialogue into actionable change, igniting social innovation and human resilience.
As Greg leads Belmont into a new era, he does so with a clear-eyed vision of nurturing leaders, solving complex problems and championing the flourishing of communities. His leadership is more than a role; it’s a mission to inspire, engage and transform — across Belmont’s campus, throughout Nashville and beyond. Belmont’s journey ahead is about nurturing “God- sized dreams;” dreams that promise transformation and hope, and then executing on those dreams. This vision encapsulates the Belmont spirit: a place where faith, innovation and action converge to create a brighter, more hopeful future for all.

“Sometimes it feels like I just blinked and 11 years flew by since I launched out on my own, and other times I remember every single twist and turn, every risk, every learning moment, and I am appreciative of every single one. What began with me working independently out of my basement as the designer, billing manager and delivery crew grew into a dedicated team that feels like family, a beautiful design studio in Green Hills, and a long history of amazing client relationships, some of which have turned into multiple projects all over the country. ”
His work is award-winning and has been recognized by national and regional publications. Ridley Willis; The Wills Company
As a 9th-generation Nashvillian and passionate preservationist, Ridley Wills is a walking encyclopedia of residential real estate. Whether it is a 19th Century farmhouse in Williamson County, a Georgian-style classic in Belle Meade, or a 1990s-style house in need of an upgrade, his eponymous firm, The Wills Company, is enthusiastic to restore and enhance it.
“Let’s face it, the remodeling process is a scary prospect for people. From the beginning, our company set out to do things differently. Our end-to-end model allows us to control the factors that so often trip up projects. Our architectural team designs to our clients’ budgets, we offer full transparency and pricing BEFORE beginning a project, and have a notable reputation for timely completion.”
With a change-order rate of less than 2 percent, there are few surprises, a point of pride for the architects, project managers, and craftsmen who are committed to delivering the highest form of professional service.
“Now more than ever it is important that we preserve the architectural fabric of our neighborhoods. But this doesn’t mean we have to be purist. Sensitive design takes into account the needs of contemporary living that can coexist with the beauty of the past.”
If you are thinking about buying a house that needs a full renovation or living in one that is due a kitchen upgrade or a master bedroom addition, your first call should be to the Wills Company.
