1978 Herschel Greer Stadium opens with a seating capacity of 10,300 and a new team, the Sounds. The team leads all minor league baseball in attendance by drawing 380,000 fans in their first season.
1983 Nashville Sounds centerfield Derwin McNealy fouls off a pitch at Greer Stadium. The New York Yankees played their Double A farm team, the Nashville Sounds.
1984 A group of Little Leaguers is part of the crowd for the Nashville Sounds game with Charlotte at Greer Stadium. The Sounds pounded four Charlotte pitchers for 13 hits to win 11-8. (1984)
1984 Nashville Sounds slugger Dan Pasqua (17) is greeted a home plate by teammates Fernando Gonazalez (34) and Stan Javier (21) after a three-run homer against Charlotte at Greer Stadium. The Sounds went on to an 11-8 victory before 13,495 fans.

1997 The Nashville Sounds' mascot is cougar named Ozzie with yellow fur, wearing the same style of uniform as the team, but with no hat. In addition to the team's current home and alternate uniforms, he also wears Sounds home uniforms from the past few seasons.
2002 The Sounds become the first sports team to host Faith Night promotions. A rousing success, it has since been duplicated by numerous other minor league teams, as well as big-league squads like the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals.
2007 Future National League MVP Ryan Braun plays for the Sounds before being called up mid-season. (Last year, however, he was suspended for using performance-enhancing drugs.)

2014 The team celebrates the groundbreaking for their new ballpark at Sulphur Dell in North Nashville. The stadium is expected to be finished in time for the 2015 season.
