Born into a Jamaican household of 29 siblings, Gramps Morgan knew he wanted to be in the music industry from an early age by watching his father play with his band.
“Watching my dad rehearse with his band and seeing the expression of joy and determination on his face always inspired me to use my voice to uplift others,” he says.
Two decades after working his own way into the music industry, Morgan won his first Grammy in 2016.
“It wasn’t the hardware that made me so proud, but rather the reflection of being able to fulfill my dreams in music by touring the world and healing so many.”
He’ll bring even more music into the world soon: Morgan is working with partner Johnny Reid on an album that combines reggae and country sounds to be released next year.

But Morgan isn’t just a musician—he is a humanitarian involved in many causes. He sits on the board of the Nashville Grammy Chapter and is the Chief of the Mpesse Royal Family in Ghana where he helps bring development to the city of Accra. He created the group Gramps MOM (Music Orchestrating Miracles) and the Morgan Heritage Foundation which helps improve education in Kenya. He does much of his work alongside his wife, Dr. Annabelle, but as with music, his earliest influence for giving back was his father.
“I couldn’t ask for a better example to live up to: his family values, love for God, respect for others, and willingness to learn about other places on the earth—their cultures, their traditions. He always helped others and would give whatever he had to give, all while making sure he put smiles on their faces at the same time.”
