Who is someone you consider a hero and why?
My late husband, Mark Humphreys, continues to inspire and guide my approach to work, friendships, and how I view the world. I have yet to meet anyone who loved and enjoyed life more, and always with a sense of appreciation and gratefulness. He had a supernatural ability to focus on the present, whether it was the person he was talking to or what he was experiencing at that time. He was brilliant and had an ease in figuring out how to get from a problem to a solution. He made you want to be your best because there was no doubt he was giving his best to you.
What organization are you affiliated with and why is it important to you?
I tend to be drawn to performing arts organizations and raising funds to support their educational outreach programs. Every child should be exposed to the arts. To me, it’s just as important as any other classroom subject or extracurricular activity. The arts open your mind to what can be, and the nurturing benefits of experiencing or seeing something beautiful, whether it be a performance or a painting, are lasting and can redefine what is meaningful and worthwhile.
How would friends describe you in three words?
Outgoing, confident, and trustworthy.
