On Tuesday, April 30, the Urban League of Middle Tennessee (ULMT) hosted its annual 100 Wise Women Breakfast.
The empowerment event is designed to unite women across all career stages to tap into the power of networking. The breakfast featured keynote speaker Dr. Shanna L. Jackson, President of Nashville State Community College, who shared many inspiring and heart-warming anecdotes about her journey to becoming the first Black woman president of Nashville State. Aiming to propel emerging women leaders to establish authentic mentoring relationships, the event allowed attendees to engage in thoughtful table conversations about career development and professional goals.
“We were elated to welcome more than 200 women and men to our second Annual 100 Wise Women event,” says Janet Kincherlow-Martin, vice president of fund development, marketing and civic engagement for the Urban League of Middle Tennessee. “This event grew out of an idea to recognize outstanding women throughout our community who are making a positive impact, while at the same time allowing these women to transparently and honestly discuss their journey–both the positive experiences as well as challenges and adversity.”
This year’s 100 Wise Women event brought together hundreds of attendees and provided them with a renewed network of mentors, colleagues, and friends that will enhance their careers and community relationships.
