The annual Reaching New Heights Luncheon to benefit nonprofit Cumberland Heights was held Tuesday, April 11 at Nashville's Hillwood Country Club. This year's guest speaker was Laura Baugh, former LPGA pro and author of Out of the Rough. Approximately 350 women showed up for this fundraiser in support of women's programs at Cumberland Heights alcohol and drug addiction center.
Baugh shared many intimate, tragic and even humorous stories with the attendees about her alcohol recovery. Ultimately, Laura Baugh's recovery story was a story of triumph and inspiration to everyone in the room. Co-chairs of this popular luncheon event were Monica McDougall and Sally Nesbitt, who were supported by a committee of about three dozen volunteers.
This year's Sheila Keeble Award recipient is Janice Lovvorn, an award given to honor a woman who has made a difference in the recovery community.
Board member Louise Mandrell introduced Janice Lovvorn to the audience and gave remarks about her years of service to Cumberland Heights. Ladies dined on a strawberry fields salad with chicken, enjoyed a lively pre-luncheon reception with friends and left the luncheon inspired by the speakers. The springtime floral center pieces were created by The Tulip Tree.
