On Wednesday, February 7, Nashville Lifestyles hosted the annual Music in the City event at Ole Red featuring a performance by country musician and January cover star, Chris Young.
The sold out crowd settled in around the first floor stage as up-and-coming artist and Middle Tennessee State University alum, Jaelee Roberts, kicked off the evening with a handful of original songs. Once set changes were made, Alison Hudak, editor of Nashville Lifestyles, took the stage to introduce Chris Young. In a fifteen-minute-long Q-and-A session, Young talked about his upcoming studio album and what to expect, plus his new lifestyle changes and how it has affected both his physical and mental health. Post Q-and-A, Middle Tennessee State University President Sidney McPhee and Dean of the College of Media and Entertainment, Beverly Keel, presented Chris Young (a proud MTSU alum) with a plaque.
Then, Young and his band took over the stage where he sang well-known and well-loved hits like "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)," "The Man I want to Be," and "Famous Friends." During the set he also had friend and artist Ty Graham take the stage for a solo song. While listening to acoustic tunes, guests sipped complimentary Crown Royal cocktails, including Crown and Coke, Crown and Lemonade, and Crown and Soda Water. Crown Royal Ready-to-Drink Cocktails including Whisky and Cola, Washington Apple, and Peach Tea were also available to sample.
A portion of the proceeds from the event also benefited Dream Streets, a non-profit organization whose mission is to protect and empower under-resourced families in West and North Nashville.
Thank you to our presenting sponsor, Middle Tennessee State University, and our sponsors Ole Red, Hatef Aesthetics, and Crown Royal.
