Taqueria del Sol on 12 South recently hosted its third annual fundraising event, A Taqueria Holiday, for Safe Haven Family Shelter. The lively, family-focused event attracted more than 400 supporters and raised $50,628 to support families experiencing homelessness.
Dierks and Cassidy Bentley, Paragon Group developer Zac Thomas and wife Caroline Thomas, Vic and Liz Thomas, Taqueria Nashville, and Taqueria Atlanta each contributed a matching gift equal to food and beverage proceeds. For every $1 spent on food and beverage, Safe Haven Family Shelter received $6. The restaurant donated 100% of the evening's food and beverage proceeds to Safe Haven, and five matching gifts generated a six-fold donation.
The Taqueria Nashville team, led by managing partner Tony Halligan and 12 South general manager Javier Salado, created and staffed the event on an all-volunteer basis. Restaurant team members were deeply involved in the event, coming in on the restaurant's typical day off to volunteer their time to prepare the food and staff the event.
