Miranda Whitcomb Pontes opened the upscale 12 South eatery Josephine in early December, bringing lovely but unfussy food and a respect for local suppliers and farm-to-table cuisine. Vegetables get a spotlight; items like rainbow carrots are treated like a protein, serving as the main component of the plate with curry granola and buttermilk vinaigrette as accompaniments. There is also a selection of noodles and dumplings, meats and fish, and creative starters, like the leek tart with mascarpone and bacon.
