November is one of the most special months: an opportunity to be thankful for so many things in life.
I can tell you that I am truly grateful this year. I am grateful for my health, friendships, and my life at this magazine.
I am thankful that I get to work with this great team of ladies. We recently celebrated 25 years of publishing the magazine, and it feels like just yesterday that this all began. I’ve been fortunate enough to make so many great friends along the way and to work with our team who works to make our magazine the best in the business. A quarter of a century later, and we are the only paid circulation magazine in Nashville, which means a lot to me that people care enough about our content to buy it.
I appreciate local journalism, and it is more important than ever to support our local media. We strive to tell the stories of Nashville, and that means everyone. We represent diversity in our community through the stories we share. I feel strongly that representation matters, and I am thankful we get to do that.

Happy November!
This month serves as a reminder to take a pause from the chaos of everyday life and reflect on the things we are thankful for. And I’m not just saying that because my birthday is on Thanksgiving — promise!
In all seriousness, one of the things I’m especially grateful for all year long is the opportunity to share the stories of Nashvillians across all walks of life, and our readers who love Music City as much as we do. In the spirit of the season, this issue is filled with can’t-miss holiday happenings and a selection of hosting must-haves. Whether you’re the guest of honor or hosting a soirèe of your own, we’ve got you covered with the items you’ll need to spread some holiday cheer. Plus, we’re highlighting some of our favorite local bakeries for all your dessert needs. After all, no holiday meal is complete without a sweet treat!
With the arrival of these colder months comes a craving for cozy, hearty meals. Nothing satisfies quite like a steak, and lucky for us, Nashville is home to some sensational steakhouses. We’re bringing you some of our favorites in town for swanky date nights, celebrations among friends and family, holiday get-togethers, and just a meal well done (or if you’re like me, medium-rare). However you prefer your steak, you’ll want to feast your eyes on this feature.
Speaking of food we love, owner and founder of Tailor, Vivek Surti, gives us an inside look into Diwali (The Festival of Lights) and what the celebration means for him and his family. He also shares the flavors that help make this celebration so special along with some favorite recipes to bring a taste of Diwali into your own home this season. This issue also includes a look at the newly opened Butterlamp bread house and wine bar; the first-of-its-kind paint throwing wellness studio, TheraPaint Studio; and an interview with country star Riley Green on his new album and new midtown bar, Duck Blind.
There’s all that and more, so turn the page and enjoy!
