With every new year come new fitness goals and there’s a new fitness concept coming later this winter to Belle Meade that will help you keep up with those fitness resolutions for years to come.
A full-body workout that combines cardio dance intervals with strength and toning, AKT Belle Meade provides versatile classes for workouts that feel fresh and exciting every time, that are as fun as they are effective.
Founded in 2013, AKT focuses on celebrating movement and music to achieve greater health and fitness together. The studio offers four signature class formats — dance, bands, tone, and circuit — designed to push clients to dance, sweat, and burn calories in a high-energy, supportive atmosphere. Each 60-minute, full-body class features new, original programming created every three weeks to ensure clients never feel bored or stuck in their workouts.
“AKT is always a challenge, but most importantly, it’s always fun. It is a space where you can truly let loose and take some time to focus on yourself in the middle of your busy day. The mental health benefits that come from expressing yourself through music combined with the physical health benefits of functional movement make AKT a fitness studio like no other,” explains Kaycee Bales, general manager at AKT Belle Meade.
Featuring high-energy playlists, curated choreography, a shimmering disco ball, colorful studio lights, and expert trainers, AKT classes are designed to improve cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, and coordination. From first timers to fitness fanatics, AKT offers something for everyone of every experience level to achieve their goals. Dance and bands classes are high impact, rhythmic, and perfect for those looking for a blend of cardio and strength intervals. For a lower impact workout that tones the whole body, try a tone class. And for a jazzy take on the wildly popular HIIT workout, circuit classes are a fun, energetic outlet to push yourself to new limits with rhythmic compound movements. First timers are also encouraged to start with an intro to AKT class, which previews all four class models to help new clients familiarize themselves with signature moves.
“We pride ourselves on our positive community and culture. No matter your experience level, AKT is a safe and encouraging place to work towards fitness goals, build confidence, release stress, have a good time, and even make some friends. You don’t have to be a dancer to love AKT— you just need to be ready to let loose and have fun,” Bales says.
Encouragement, self-expression, and positivity are at the forefront of AKT. Lights are dimmed to help clients let loose and move freely, and members of the AKT team are eager to welcome clients in and make them feel right at home.
“It's an exciting time to be a part of the fitness community in Nashville, as it's growing by leaps and bounds. Health and wellness are so important, and we want people to know that they have access to move their bodies and live their best lives no matter what. We hope AKT contributes to building a supportive community that celebrates each other's achievements and supports one another through rough patches because we truly need a strong community now more than ever,” says Bales. “We hope more than anything that we can help people find freedom, support, and inspiration through movement.”
