The renowned Texas men’s store, STAG Provisions for Men, opened the brand’s first Nashville location in May to the delight of many.
The store is an independent men’s apparel and lifestyle shop that specializes in contemporary clothing with classic roots. STAG operates as an inimitable shopping destination for apparel, accessories, grooming essentials, unique gifts, and one-of-a-kind vintage objects and artwork.
Co-founders Steve Shuck and Don Weir found the most important thing in designing the Nashville location was to ensure it physically matched the quality of the goods that they sell and to make it free of clutter and gimmicks.
“We always want our stores to be easy to shop with really straightforward merchandising, allowing the clothes and the service to be the things that stand out most to the customer,” says Shuck. “That said, we also want to create a space where he feels relaxed and inspired to shop. Part of this is accomplished by incorporating vintage, natural elements, and lots of residential touches in the store. We hope it’s a space that feels collected and inviting versus manufactured and cookie cutter.”
According to Shuck, shoppers are already loving the product mix and multi-brand assortment, featuring brands they can’t find anywhere else in the city.
“They also seem to love having a shop dedicated just to men as there seem to be many great women’s boutiques in town with far fewer options for him,” Shuck says. STAG is eclectic in spirit — seamlessly blending higher-end products with lower, vintage classics and new collections, resulting in authentic offerings.
“Our aim is to be a good mix of traditional and unexpected menswear, while also considering his needs beyond clothing - great coffee table books, gifts, home goods, jewelry, art, fragrance, and the list goes on. We see a wide range of customers come through our doors and we want to make sure that we appeal to as many of their individual needs as we can,” said co-founder Don Weir. “We aspire to be a little something for everyone instead of being everything to just one type of customer. That said, we’re a lot of styles under one roof - rugged, refined, classic, quirky, relaxed, and often unexpected.”
As STAG grows and settles into its new Nashville home, the co-founders are dedicated to catering to the community’s interests.
“We want to continue to thoughtfully build STAG, both online and through our shops. We’ll keep hunting for great brands and styles that excite our customers, building great teams that deliver memorable service, and being a place that appeals to a wide range of men,” Weir says. “For Nashville, we’ve been looking for the right spot in town for years, [and] are excited to finally be here, and intend on putting down strong roots in the community. We’ve already identified some great local organizations, events, regional vendors, and charities that we think align with our values and goals and hope to positively contribute to our 12 South neighborhood and the Nashville community. We couldn’t be more thrilled to call this place home.”
