In a press release on Tuesday, January 5, The District, Inc. and Metro Historical Commission Foundation announced a fund to help restore the vitally important historic district of 2nd Avenue which was severely damaged in the bombing that took place on Christmas Day.
This historic district is not only home to various entertainment venues and businesses, but is also a vibrant neighborhood to artists, businesspeople, and city leaders alike. The funds raised will be used to help support structural assessments of and facade repairs to the irreplaceable historic buildings impacted by the explosion, so that this neighborhood will be able to thrive once again.
“This fund will help support the building owners of 2nd Avenue to restore their properties and allow them access to a centralized collection of resources to help them on the path to recovery," said Kelly Kaplan, chairman of the board for The District, Inc.
