First place winner, Catron Wallace
After a summer-long call for entries for Middle Tennessee-based artists to submit artwork that represents Music City, Nashville Lifestyles has crowned its Art Creator of the Year.
Catron Wallace of Kingston Springs has earned the title with the submission of her acrylic/mixed media painting of the Nashville skyline. Wallace, who has lived in the area for the past four years, moved here in part because of the city’s artist community.

“I truly, truly love this city, its people, and its rich culture. I cannot put it into words, so I paint it!”
She works in acrylics and often incorporates nature in her art, using sand, ashes, and other secret ingredients. Wallace’s work can be seen at Studio 208, where she is the gallery’s top-selling artist for private and corporate clients.
Nadia Foxworth, a Nashville transplant who was born and raised in Russia, was a runner up in the city-wide contest.

Foxworth works mostly with paper, transforming easily accessible materials into large scale flower installations. Her piece, entitled “Nashville Transplant,” and is a three feet by five feet “description of Nashville 2020” through Foxworth’s eyes. In the portrait, a “young woman is holding a record close to her heart as if to nurture it and gain something from the city’s soul—music. The city skyline is reflected on her glasses which mirror the thought that we are all in this together, through good times and bad.”
Aaron Grayum of Nashville was also a runner up in the contest which included submissions from painters, sculptors, graphic designers, and a wide array of talent.

Grayum is the artist behind the “Love Each Other” mural that is seen on Second Avenue downtown. He painted it following the downtown demonstrations protesting the death of George Floyd “as a way to help uplift the downtown community as they attempt to recover and rebuild.”
