Shopping for beauty products can be overwhelming, as even the most seasoned shoppers know. Thankfully, San Francisco transplant Laura Lemon seeks to simplify the process with Lemon Laine, a natural beauty and wellness shop tucked on Eastland Avenue.
Lemon's own journey with health and wellness started at a young age, when the self-proclaimed product junkie struggled with cystic acne. Her search for a natural solution led to a decade-long career in the beauty industry, plus holistic health and nutrition studiesand she didn't stop there, either.
'I've seen beauty from a lot of different angles, but I felt like, for me, what was missing was that retail presence: how women discover products and interact with them,” Lemon shares.
And, so, the idea for Lemon Laine began to take shape, providing natural beauty, health, and wellness in an intimate, approachable space. The shop is organized by product type instead of brand, a customer-centric setup intended to mimic your own medicine cabinet. One wall (decked in designs by New Hat Projects) is home to cleansers, moisturizers, and topical treatments from brands like CV Skinlabs, Honest Hazel, and Twigs + Roots, while shelves across the store are stocked with supplements, superfoods, healthy fats, and other items geared toward gut health and internal wellness.
What Lemon deems 'the heart and soul of the place,” though, is her oil bar. Here, in partnership with Clary Collection, Lemon Laine creates custom oil blends from four different bases, each offering a unique skin benefit. $65 gets you one ounce of your own formulation (and complimentary wine from Tavola, too).
'So much of retail is moving online, but I think there's still something to be said for a tangible experience,” Lemon says, 'and that's exactly what we hope to cultivate at Lemon Laine.”
