Ask Dr. Yontz
Dr. Yontz truly believes that she was born to help people hear. When I had no idea what I should do God kept putting audiology in my path! With the help of her Nashville native husband, Stephen, Ascent Audiology in Rivergate has grown to a second location of Aspire Audiology in Green Hills. When I first started in December 2015 it was just me and one other person. I worked fifteen hour days networking and educating the community on all things hearing related. Seven years later I am amazed at the amount of growth we have seen. We now have three full time and two part time doctors of audiology, one audiology resident, and multiple students who shadow every semester.
Ascent Audiology and Aspire Audiology offer hearing related services to all ages. From newborn to our oldest patient of 100 years old, our goal is to give people the gift of communication. I was recently asked how we were different and I can say that we 100 percent come up with a solution for everyone no matter what your insurance, budget, or specific hearing loss. We work with all major hearing aid manufacturers and the majority of insurance plans. Dr. Hannah Kostrzewski has recently expanded our services to cochlear implants and we work with surgeons in Kentucky and Tennessee. Dr. Brianna Thomas specializes in diagnostics and Veterans but we all take the same CEU courses and even share patients!
Why get a hearing test?
If you are noticing any difficulty hearing it is important to get a baseline as soon as possible. We don’t have any sort of medication to stop hearing loss, so early intervention and treatment is important.
I don’t have hearing loss, but I do have ringing in my ears? What does that mean?
Ringing in the ears is usually always a side effect of something. A hearing test would be performed to determine the cause and if needed, treatment plans are offered.
Will my insurance cover a hearing test and hearing aids/treatment?
Yes, the majority of hearing tests are covered by insurance annually. Hearing aids can be covered and will let you know at your appointment exactly what is covered.
Tip:
• Wear custom hearing protection when performing or listening to loud music.
• If you have it more than halfway on the volume scale, it’s probably too loud.
• Get a baseline hearing test. Preventative measures are key.
