Jerry Salley wrote John Anderson’s “I Fell in the Water,” Wade Hayes’s “How Do You Sleep at Night,” Reba McEntire’s “I'm Gonna Take That Mountain,” Chris Stapleton’s “Outlaw State of Mind,” Wild Rose’s “Breaking New Ground,” and many Christian and gospel songs, including Stephen Curtis Chapman’s “His Strength Is Perfect.” His songs have also been recorded by country artists including Sara Evans, Toby Keith, Patty Loveless, Loretta Lynn, the Oak Ridge Boys, and Brad Paisley and bluegrass artists including the Del McCoury Band, Irene Kelley, the Osborne Brothers, the Seldom Scene, the SteelDrivers, Rhonda Vincent, and the Whites.
