Few instruments epitomize the sound of traditional country music more than the steel guitar. Musician-educators Adam Ollendorff, who has appeared on recordings by Kacey Musgraves and Carrie Underwood; and Robin Ruddy, who has performed with Rod Stewart and Country Music Hall of Fame members Vince Gill and Ray Stevens, will provide background information about the steel guitar family as they explore the sounds of lap steel, pedal steel and dobro. Participants will be invited to try out some techniques on the instruments following the presentation. Offered in support of the exhibition Western Edge: The Roots and Reverberations of Los Angeles Country-Rock, presented by City National Bank. (Recommended for ages 7 and up. All are welcome)
Taylor Swift Education Center; Limited seating; Included with museum admission; Free to museum members.
