Blair Woodwind Quintet
Join us for a Master Series performance by renowned faculty ensemble the Blair Woodwind Quintet, Monday, October 28, 8:00 p.m., in Turner Hall. Described as “refreshing, alive, and filled with the joy of making music,” the stellar group features Mariam Adam, clarinet; Molly Barth, flute; Jared Hauser, oboe; Peter Kolkay, bassoon; and Leslie Norton, horn.
Tickets are “Pay as You Wish” ($0 - $30) and required for admission. Reserve tickets: http://vu.edu/102824-tix
The Blair Woodwind Quintet will open the concert with a co-commissioned work of George Lewis, a jazz and avant-garde composer and trombonist who refuses to subject music to rigid genres. Jan Bach’s witty duo for flute and horn, “Four Two-Bit Contraptions” provides levity to the program, and will continue with The Sonata for oboe, clarinet and bassoon by Sándor Veress. Maintaining a tradition of collaboration with esteemed colleagues, this concert will conclude with the Poulenc Sextet, featuring Blair piano professor Heather Conner.
