Every month a group of readers gather on the patio of The Blue Room to make sure challenged or banned get read and discussed, co-hosted by music artist Aria Cavaliere & poet Ciona Rouse.
This month, we’re taking the party inside, pre-gaming for Banned Book Week (Sept. 22-28) with a kickoff celebration in The Blue Room. The evening includes unplugged performances by The Shindellas, Riley Parker, & the happy hour’s very own Cavaliere. Additionally, we’ll hear from special guest readers who will share passages from several banned or recently challenged books. You’ll also be able to purchase books from Rouse’s new popup venture Bard’s Towne. With specialty cocktails, bookish giveaways, ways to activate and plenty of time to mingle, it’s a night to celebrate literary liberty and meet people who aren’t afraid to read books.
