Nashville Lifestyles: You've just wrapped up the Very Hot Summer tour with Thomas Rhett. What was the most memorable moment?
Russell Dickerson: Probably playing both Madison Square Garden and Bridgestone Arena in the same month. I have seen so many concerts at both venues and the fact that we got to play to sold-out crowds in these iconic places was crazy!
NL: You've shared the stage with some pretty big names: Keith Urban, Thomas Rhett, and Florida Georgia Line just to name a few, what have you learned from performing with these guys on such huge tours?
RD: I watch their shows like a football team watches game tape. I'm constantly taking notes on what the crowd reacts to or what they didn't react to, what got them out of their seats, and what made them truly feel something. I am always trying to learn how to be the best entertainer I can be.
NL: You're playing the Opry on November 5th, what does playing the Opry mean to you?
RD: I have such a deep respect for country music that every time I step into that circle I feel the weight of every legend who has stood there as well.
NL: This year has been quite the whirlwind for you—two No. 1 songs, another one that has broken into the top 10—what would you say has been the most surreal thing to happen to you in 2019?
RD: It has been a whirlwind indeed! I mean one No. 1 song is insane, but two and one climbing is such a huge accomplishment for both me and my amazing team. And trust me, we are just getting started!
NL: What can we expect in 2020?
RD: New, next-level music, more songwriting, a deeper Russell D., and some big tours on the way!
