Nashville Lifestyles (NL): So your new album, Every Little Thing, is coming out this monthvery exciting!
Carly Pearce (CP): Yikes! *laughs*
NL: What sound can people expect to hear?
CP: I think this common theme, obviously having busbee as my producer, he comes from a pop background and so there's definitely, like, a contemporary vibe to it. But, I think people know how much I love the late 90s and early 2000s country, and I think you're gonna hear that throwback sound to the 90s and that era, and a little bit of bluegrass and a little bit of contemporary. There's something, I feel like, for everybody.
NL: Is there any story from your studio time, just going through the recording process, that you'd be willing to share?
CP: Uh, yeah! busbee and I have been working together for about three years, and we just had such a blast. We record all of the vocals just in his little shed, out back of his Nashville home. It's not glamourous at all, but it's awesome and so fun, and I got to have a lot of my friends who have been playing with me for years, be on this album. I'm just really, really proud of the musicians, and we had such a blast in the studio.
NL: You worked with several different co-writers on this album. Were there any favorite writers that stand out?
CP: I love Emily Shackelton. She wrote 'Every Little Thing,” she and I wrote 'Careless” together…um, she is just amazing, and we've been really good friends for a really long time. So, it was kind of a full circle moment, I think, for the both of us, to be able to do those together.
NL: You've had quite the year already, with 'Every Little Thing” coming out and becoming a massive hit on country radio what are some other big moments so far in your career?
CP: My Opry debut a few years ago was a huge milestone. Getting ready to go out on my first tour with Brett Young, like an actual first full tour, that's going to be really exciting. Putting out my album, working on my album…yeah.
It's a crazy, crazy awesome thing that I do.
NL: You've performed nearly all your life, from starting at Dollywood at a young age to like you mentioned earlier, debuting at the Grand Ole Opry and performing there multiple times. Plus, you've opened for fellow country artists Kelsea Ballerini and Eric Churchso how does that live performance aspect influence your style and your music?
CP: I think at the end of the day, a live performance is where people really get to see what you're all about, and I love live performing so much. Even when I was writing and picking songs for the album, I thought about ‘What is this gonna be like live?' and I think that that's the true test of a tour, songs that are special.
NL: Speaking of the tour, you mentioned you are about to head out with Brett Young?
CP: Yeah, we start the tour on Saturday!
NL: Very cool! So everything is kind of happening at once, huh?
CP: Oh yeahwhen it rains, it pours, in the best way!
NL: Yay! We're going to wrap things up with an easy question. When you're not on the road, where is your favorite place to hang out in Nashville?
CP: Oh, that's so fun! My girlfriends and I, all of my friends, we really like the bar…what is it called, I can see it in my head… Bastion!
NL: Well, thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us. Wishing you all success with this new album and can't wait for everyone to hear it.
CP: Aw, thank you so much!
