O.N.E. the Duo
O.N.E. the Duo is not your mother’s mother/daughter act. Making their official debut in 2020, the two swiftly carved out a niche in the country music scene. Tekitha, the seasoned soulful mom, and Prana Supreme, the insightful, poetic daughter of hip-hop legend RZA, bring together a wealth of genres for a sonic fusion that can only be described as country with a twist. The act took shape in 2014 when Prana—who immersed herself in the arts at school—asked her mom if she would be interested in writing and singing together. Tekitha, who had a successful solo singing career (not to mention was a featured singer with Wu-Tang Clan) prior to becoming a mother, was hesitant, worrying that the music industry wouldn’t be the best place for her AP student daughter. But Prana remained committed and after a trial period, the two moved to Nashville and became O.N.E the Duo. (O.N.E standing for "observant, noetic, effervescent.”) The industry is taking notice—they were named to CMT’s Next Women of Country in 2023 and made their Opry debut in November—and so are the fans. They released their debut 12-track album, Blood Harmony, in August and in October they appeared alongside Wendy Moten on “Had a Dream (For the Heart)” on an album that honors another history-making mother/daughter duo, A Tribute to The Judds.
