TAILOR, a South Asian American dinner party-style restaurant is re-opening in Germantown on August 11.
Vivek Surti and Heather Southerland's restaurant will offer a conversational, multi-course dinner party concept, inspired by Surti’s roots as a first-generation American of Indian descent. The 40-seat space at 620 Taylor Street will feature a menu with South Asian dishes including expanded farsan, a category of Gujarati snacks, Indian breads, and grilled items.
The design of the space will also give a nod to its original roots. Elements such as TAILOR’s original butcher block countertop and the iconic crystal chandelier from Surti’s childhood home ground the space. The familiar features are complemented by new design components from the team at Pfeffer Torode, such as the traditional Gujarati rounded-top arch carved into the bar cabinetry and echoed in the dining room entrance, six additional chandeliers throughout the space, and rich textures and fabrics on the walls. The tile work throughout the space also features detailed small gold tile stitching found around the bathroom floor as a nod to the tailor name.
Reservations are now available for two dinner services at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. four nights a week, Thursday through Sunday. For more information, visit tailornashville.com.
