Retrograde Coffee has officially opened its second location in the City Heights neighborhood of West Nashville.
The 2,000-square-foot indoor café focuses on handcrafted drinks, elevated food menus, and a design-forward atmosphere, plus a forthcoming cocktail program. The bar will be led by industry veteran Jamie White of Pearl Diver and Tiger Bar.
“We couldn't be more thrilled for our new location in City Heights, one of the city’s hottest up-and-coming neighborhoods,” says Retrograde co-founder Nathan Weinberg. “Coffee shops are essential community center elements and City Heights has lacked a strong coffee presence…until now.”
Retrograde features pour-overs, limited releases, espresso tonics, and the brand's signature flash brew, a method of brewing iced coffee that's full of flavor and aroma with no chilling time. The food menu draws inspiration from global culinary trends and infuses them with local, seasonal ingredients, with options including Pommes Rosti, a Swiss version of hash browns, Cauliflower Dip, Sourdough Bagels, and more.
When the sun goes down, the space will transition from a coffeehouse to a bar, beginning in mid-November. The Bar at Retrograde will offer both classic and creative libations, plus a wine menu. The bar food menu will showcase an array of small plates.
Retrograde’s interior was designed by local designers Losobe Woodworks, Smith Gee, and Leslie May. The minimalistic design features pops of green-and-blue pastels and dusty copper tones. Materials include custom light oak wood and white marble tabletops, accentuated by artful murals and antiqued glass wall mirrors.
