In Season: Milkshakes
Now's about the time when nothing but frozen, cold refreshment will get you through the dog days. We say: Up the ante by adding cookies to your favorite milkshake concoction. The Christie Cookie Co., which got its claim to fame as the maker of the soft and gooey Doubletree cookie, has its headquarters and a bakery tucked off a side street in Germantown. There, you can find a selection of regular and rotating flavors to buy as a single cookie or as an assortment. (They also offer frozen dough, which you can take home and bake yourself).
Lemon White Chocolate happens to be the flavor of their August cookie of the month. The bakery offers a rotating selection of flavors delivered in tins of 12 or 24, which you can order onceor every month, of course. The flavors might range from oatmeal raisin to ginger molasses to Snickerdoodle to white chocolate macadamia nutand all will work well in the milkshake recipe seen here.
