Eli Mason, Peach Gomme Syrup, $11.99

Y’all’s Balls

An apt and hilarious name, Y’alls Balls was a concept that struck Courtney Webb while living in New York. After moving home in 2013, Webb almost immediately opened her adorable East Nashville general store Hey Rooster—but the thought of a sausage ball business never disappeared. Since selling her first few batches at December’s Porter Flea market, she’s been popping up at the Nashville Farmers’ Market, with flavors that include traditional sausage, Benton’s bacon and blue cheese, hot chicken, and vegetarian.

Willa’s Shortbread, Hot Cheddar Bites, $5.95

This 30-year-old company has been in Tennessee since 2006 but only recently picked up on the Nashville hot chicken craze. Their newest product uses a proprietary hot cheddar spice blend from another local effort, the J.M. Thomason Spice company. And these petite bites do pack some heat—after a cheesy kick, the crumbly biscuits give up a lingering spice that you’ll want to wash down with a good, local beer.
