SOUTHERN GRIST BREWING CO.
The brewery has two taprooms—one in East Nashville and one in the Nations—where they specialize in small-batch and experimental brews that frequently change. The brewery is best known for its creative beer selections, like the Cobbler, a dessert- inspired lactose-fruited sour ale and the Upside Down Cake, a milkshake IPA series that is brewed with lactose. The East Nashville location also serves up delicious fare with their in-house food concept, Lauter. (southerngristbrewing.com)
BEARDED IRIS BREWING
The menu skews heavily toward India Pale Ales and Double India Pale Ales, including Homestyle, Bearded Iris’ signature brew that started it all. This oat-infused IPA is a staple of the brewery and focuses on the fruit and fragrance of the hops. Can designs are fun and vibrant, and can be found at the Germantown brewery location, plus at Sylvan Supply and retailers around town. (beardedirisbrewing.com)
YAZOO BREWING COMPANY
A Nashville staple, Yazoo originally opened in 2003 in the historic Marathon Motor Works building but shortly thereafter outgrew the space and moved to the Gulch in 2010. Now, the brewery operates out of an extensive space in Madison, where the beer selections run the gamut: from sours and wild ales to IPAs and more. There’s a brew for every type of beer geek. The brewery also features a wild ale and barrel aging program dubbed What the Funk. (yazoobrew.com)
THE BLACK ABBEY BREWING COMPANY
Step inside Fellowship Hall, Black Abbey’s monastery- inspired tasting room, grab a seat at one of the handmade farmhouse tables, and sip a Belgian-style beer. A variety of year-round, seasonal, and limited-edition beers are on tap, and food trucks serving pub fare are often on site. (blackabbeybrewing.com)
JACKALOPE BREWING COMPANY
The Ranch, Jackalope’s taproom and brewery, is located in the heart of Wedgewood-Houston and features a dog- friendly patio, a funky taproom, and brewery tours. Jackalope specializes in brewing and canning their four year-round beers, two seasonal beers, and a wide variety of limited-release beers. Plus, they’ve got pretty cool can designs, too.(jackalopebrew.com)
TAILGATE BREWERY
TailGate has four locations around town, but the taproom in West Nashville is the brewery’s headquarters, featuring a fifty- barrel production facility, eight- barrel pilot system and canning line, as well as an outdoor bar, craft pizza kitchen, and slice shop. The Music Row taproom also houses the first craft cidery in Nashville, a dog-friendly patio, plus a scratch-made pizza kitchen; the East Nashville location offers up ample amounts of room for the fermentation and barrel-aging program; and the Germantown location is also their craft seltzery. TENNESSEE BREW WORKS
Operating since 2013, this SoBro brewery uses natural ingredients that are sourced from local farms whenever possible. Sip favorites like Southern Wit and Hippies & Cowboys while listening to live music in the two-story taproom. This brewery also has a culinary team, so a full-service food menu is also available. Leaving town? Find the Tennessee Brew Works bar in the Nashville International Airport. (tnbrew.com)
