True to its title, Double Dogs Pub is a hot dog kind of jointbut also offers so much more. Named for two adorable pups, Bo and Chancey, the concept was started in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and its third location brings to town a classy-looking burger, beer, and hot dog stop that seems to draw everyone from college kids and families to executives and dog owners. (Yes, canines are allowed on the patio and even given treats on the way out.)
With TVs covering almost every inch of the brick-walled space, it's also a great spot to catch a game. There are beer specials most days, and when the windows are thrown open on a nice afternoon, it can feel like you're sitting on an extended covered patio.
To eat, hot dogs are a good place to startmost have big, juicy Hebrew Nationals as the base, like the Tillamook, which gets a heavy smear of its spicy namesake cheese plus onions and tomatoes. A list of burgers runs from classic single-patty numbers to a buffalo burger that acts as a healthy alternative to beef, and pizzas, like the buffalo chicken, are loaded with toppings.
Or you could order Bo's Dog Bowl Nachos, which are served, obviously, in a dog bowl and deeply layered from bottom to top with chili, sausage, refried beans, white Jack cheese sauce, nacho chips, a healthy-feeling amount of lettuce, and pico de gallo. Packed to the brim, it's enough chow to feed a whole litter.
