This spring, HGTV is putting Nashville front and center in its new series, Nashville Flipped, which debuted its first eight-episode season in March. Created in part by Mike Wolfe, host of the History Channel's American Pickers and a Franklin resident, the show features in-depth historic home renovations from a cross-section of the city's neighborhoods. Along with the show's star and creator, local house flipper Troy Dean Shafer, the series features Wade Reichert of Get Smart AV. Together, the two restore each home to its original glory, preserving the unique character and charm, while adding modern advances.

'We did things like install invisible speakers and automated TV lifts to keep everything looking beautiful while having the full benefits of modern technology,” says Reichert of the homes featured on the show. 'If we did have equipment that was visible in the home, it was appropriate to the time period. For example, we installed a phonograph and turntable that played music throughout entire house. That was a big hit!”
Reichert's specialty is combining art and science to develop in-home technological efficienciesGet Smart AV is now a full-service design and installation company catering to those in search of modernized video and audio sound solutions. 'When clients work with us, it's an experience, not just a project. Each job is like a piece of art,” Reichert says.
The best part about the show, he adds, is watching how each space is transformed from start to finish. 'The team would take a home that looked like it was falling apart and with Troy's magic, it would come out transformed,” he says.
