Tony Giarratana, president of Giarratana Development, LLC, has developed several mixed-used towers around Nashville's bourgeoning urban core over the years (including Cumberland, Viridian, Bennie Dillon, SoBro, and Encore), but he held on to the 5th and Church property site for more than 30 years, waiting for the perfect opportunity to build something grand.
The recently opened 505 sees his vision realized.
Architecturally, we envisioned an elegant silhouette that would punctuate Nashville's downtown skyline,
Giarratana explains. Programmatically, we envisioned a vertically integrated, mixed-use tower with for-sale condos and top-rental apartments, with street level retail and below-grade parking.
At 45 stories, 505 stands as the tallest residential skyscraper in the city, offering unparalleled views of the Cumberland River and downtown's ever-evolving landscape of dining and entertainment venues.
Beyond the striking curved-glass façade, the towers are comprised of luxurious condominiums and apartments, as well as shorter-term rental units available through a partnership with hospitality brand experts Stay Alfred.
All units feature floor-to-ceiling windowsthat artfully block the sounds of the cityand six-foot slabs of concrete between levels provide residences with maximum privacy. Top-of-the-line appliances and finishes lend a sophisticated vibe to each layout.
What really sets 505 apart from other similar developments is the incredible amenities we offer,
Jenny McClain, CMO, says. We have one floor of amenity spaces that's reserved exclusively for our condo owners, but everything else, from the fitness centers to the outdoor pool area to the cafes, are available to our residents.
The outdoor pool and sundeck, located seven stories in the sky, has the air of an exclusive resort. A catwalk separates two poolsone for lounging, the other for swimmingwhile tented cabanas with lounges and flat screens offer a respite from the sun. A state-of-the-art tennis court, bocce court, corn-hole area, and fire pits bring the suburban-outdoors to downtown high-rise living.
The seventh floor, outfitted with sleek Italian furnishings and a large-scale mural by local artist Nathan Brown, is home to an internet café, billiards room, and fitness center filled with app-based Technogym equipment, as well as group-exercise classes and personal training. There's even a glass-walled yoga room that feels worlds away from the bustle of the streets below.
A second level of amenity spaces is available exclusively to condo owners. "Carmen's Room," a rustically elegant wine tasting room and cellar dedicated in memory of Giarratana's mother, who loved big dinners served with wine, and a professional chef demo kitchen with adjoining dining room offer spaces where condo owners can host dinners and entertain guests.
We really want living here to be as hassle free and seamless as possible,
McClain adds. Our owners can hire a chef, host an event in the dining room or cellar, then have the valet get their guests' cars and retreat to their private space.
A concierge is available to take care of any other needs that arise, from booking dinner reservations to setting up personal training and spa appointments within the building to arranging dog boarding for the weekend through one of the 505's partners, The Dog Spot.
With so many developments cropping up in every corner of the city, Giarratana points to one of 505's most important assets: walkability.
Simply no other district affords its residents the opportunity to walk to such a high concentration of corporate office space, professional sports venues, and Nashville's best cultural, sports, restaurants, music, and entertainment venues,
he says. The 505 tower represents a dramatic advancement in the evolution of highrise living in Nashville ... not merely taller, but an entirely new class of residential skyscraper for Nashville.
